Close To My Heart Roxie Layouts

Hi There,
Here is the last of the three layout sets I created for last weeks Roxie Kit workshop. If you ordered your kit to be shipped, they are boxed up and my mail carrier will pick up tomorrow. I am eager to see what you think.

Every time I see this layout, it makes me think of the movie "Alice in Wonderland", the one with Johnny Depp. It must be the roses and the muted colors that inspire the theme.

For this Layout, the roses were not hand made, even though I do prefer "My" roses, I wanted to give the new Art Philosophy cartridge a whirl on the roses. They were very simple to assemble and I just had to really, really roll the petals for them to lay flatter that usual, since I cannot trim the base of these roses to make them less 3D. Overall I am very happy with this layout and I am thinking of having my husband take some pictures of my Victoria and I at Balboa park this coming spring when the Rose garden is in full bloom, especially for this layout.

Because these roses look so beautiful with the Sparkle button in the middle of them, my plan is to order another set of the Sparkle Buttons (Bling Assortment Z1466) and add them to the centers of the roses and a few more on the swirls on the paper.

Close To My Heart Roxie Layouts

This is the second set of layouts from the Roxie workshop this month. I was pretty amazed that I found these pictures the day of the workshop and added them that morning. The hearts match the pictures pretty good. Love it! The red scallop circle is attached with 3D tape/squares and then the pins are inserted on through the foam tape.

Same thing for this little heart, I added it to the layouts with 3D tape and inserted the pins on the 3D tape.

My husband was NOT too fond of me using this picture of him on this layout but it was just perfect for it. Plus he looks so happy there.... hee-hee!

Close To My Heart Roxie Layouts

This month, we worked on the the Roxie Close To My Heart paper packet. This is one of my favorites of this season's Idea Book. My concern with this paper was that I did NOT want to have the layouts look like "Married To The Mob" layouts. You know what I mean right?... I was afraid that the animal print would be too overwhelming, especially because I wanted to use the sparkle buttons. But overall I am very happy with the layouts, and I hope you like them too.

With this "10 Things" pocket, I only used 3D foam tape on the flowers, not on the actual folder. The paper was scored with the Martha Stewart score board and then folded, to look like ribbon.
And of course, this is an image from the new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. Love It!!!

Close To My Heart Spotlight Blog Hop

This month at the CTMH Spotlight Blog Hop we are featuring the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. And if you are coming from Wendy Kessler's blog, you are in the right path.

It was very hard to decide to make a card, layout or something 3D, so since I've been testing the water with a lot of 3D things, I wanted to keep th
e momentum going.

Bren Yule will be hosting a Close To My Heart Leadeshare here in San Diego in October and I have decided to donate this frame to her Operation Smile Silent Auction. This will be one of the several things that I am working on for donation pieces.

DIY:
- Buy wooden frame from Michael's in the dollar bin
- sand any rough edges and remove inner chipboard
- Place Tulip cardstock on working surface, place wooden frame face down.
- with dry embossing tool, trace inner and outer edges of frame
- with paper trimmer cut the inner and outer edges on the embossed lines
- glue the cardstock to the frame, make sure you get all the edges
- on the Cricut, cut our one 5" rose and the rest in 3"
- Choose, "Font" and "Shift Lock" and "Banner/Heart" for the roses
- Assemble roses and glue to the frame.

I will have a video tutorial for this in the next coming weeks. If you are new to my blog, I am a very part-time blogger so please be patient. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at MyCreativeInkCTMH@gmail.com.

I hope you try this project, it is very simple to do and very elegant.

Now go on to Elizabeth's Blog, she is the next fabulous stop on the our blog hop.

Enjoy!!!

Close To My Heart: Roxie Ring

Here is the ring, that was drying all day yesterday. I don't know if it was all the humidity in the air, but it did sure take a long time to dry. I had to put it on my beautiful daughter, to take a picture of it. Isn't she lovely?

The tutorial link on how to make the necklace is on the right hand side of the blog under tutorials. To make the ring, follow all the steps on the video, then after it's all dry, set a ring base to the back of the washer, and fill up the hollow part where you put the ring base with liquid glass and let it dry over night.
