Heart 2 Heart Challenges Blog: Color Challenge

Hi Everyone!
This week at H2H we are full of color; Color Challenge that is...
It's all about the Creme Brulee, Gypsy and a hint of black.  I've been very bad lately, with leaving things to the last minute.  So last night I sat down to create my card and realized that I do NOT own any "Gypsy" colored cardstock!!!  So I had to dig through my scrap and find something that I could ink over to make it gypsy color.  Thank goodness, I had some leftover ribbon and a single piece of creme brulee magically appeared in my stacks and stacks of paper.  I was really stressing there for a few minutes.
I went into my bag of tricks and made my traditional roses (tutorial link on the right side of my blog) and distressed the heck out of them.  My hubby was really surprised that it took me so little time to make the card, since I usually sit there for hours looking for my inspiration.  LOL!!!

Take a moment to check out what the DT created for this weeks challenge, they are some pretty cool creations!!
I hope you are now inspired to create your very own Gypsy, Creme Brulee and a touch of black creation and share it with us at H2H!
Don't forget - you have the entire month to play along with these challenges.  Deadline to enter all March challenges is March 31st 2011 at 10 pm EST. The more you play, the more chances you have to win the prizes from our fabulous sponsors -

CTMH Spotlight Blog Hop

Hello Everyone!
It's time for the Close To My Heart Spotlight Blog Hop!
I hope you are joining me from Tracy Oleksak's blog.  This month we had a special treat as we got to choose a color palette from Jeanette's Color Me Monday Blog posts.  I want to be very honest with you about this challenge.  I DID NOT sit in front of my computer and go through all her posts and decide on the perfect color palette that I wanted to showcase.

What happened was this... I was finishing up my kids Valentine treats and realized that I did not buy enough of the same treats to include all of  Hunter's class mates.  So I rushed to Micheal's and of course they are all sold out of cute and easy to assemble treats.  So as I'm standing in line waiting to pay for an adhesive, I saw these cupcake liners and a box of lollipops.  I sneaked to the ribbon section really fast and grabbed the 50% off spools ($0.25!!), what I thought was yellow ribbon, turned out to be like a Buttercup color.

Fortunately, I had my tool bag in my trunk and I assembled 15 treats in the car, while I waited for Hunter to get out of preschool.  I took pictures of the steps for you all to see how easy it is to make these little flowers, you will see the tutorial on the post before this!  After I took the pictures, I remembered that I had to make a project for this blog hop and the a little light bulb BLINGED on top of my head. I jumped on Jeanette's blog and searched for the perfect color combo to go with my flowers and VOILA!!!

The steps and pictures on how to make these super cute flowers are on the post just before this one, so take a peek...Now go on to your next destination to LAURIE FLANNERY'S  to see more fabulous artwork!  Don't worry if you did not start at the beginning of the Hop, it's a full circle anyway you follow so enjoy!!!

Cupcake Baking Cup Flowers Tutorial

I purchased these baking cups at Micheal's, they come with two colors, pink and purple.
 One box of lollipops
 Flatten the baking cup

Fold in half
Fold in half a second time
Fold in half a third time
Trim the top of the baking cup to form a flower petal
Once you trim it, unfold it and it should look like this flower.
Believe or not... THAT'S IT!!! Do these steps with as many cupcake baking cups and layer them.  Punch the lollipop stick through the center of the flowers and tie a ribbon bow under the flowers.

They look spectacular in a vase!

Heart 2 Heart Challenges Blog : Hearts

Hello Everyone!
This weeks Heart 2 Heart Challenges blog is all about the "Hearts".  Since today is the day of "LOVE", I chose to put my paper hearts out there for all to see.
These hearts are just too easy to make, here is a simple description:
2 strips of 2" x 12"
2 strips of 2" x 11"
2 strips of 2" x 10"
2 strips of 2" x 9"
1 strip of 2" x 8"-emboss across strip at 21/2", 31/2", 41/2" & 51/2"

Sandwich the 2" x 8" with the 2" x 9" strips, then the 2"x10", then 2"x11" and 2"x12".  (Embossed part of the 2"x8" should be at the bottom part of the heart) Gather all strips on one side and staple them together, then add adhesive to the outside of the strips one by one and attach strips to the scored lines. Decorate the center of hearts any way you choose! (I hope this helps) :)

Don't forget - you have the entire month to play along with these challenges. Deadline to enter all February challenges is Feb. 26th at 10 pm EST. The more you play, the more chances you have to win the prizes from our fabulous sponsors -

Heart 2 Heart Challenges : Kissing Technique

Hello Everyone!
This weeks techniques is all about "Kissing"!!!
Feel free to send me some "XOXO" by posting your comments, as it is getting close to the day of LOVE!!!
I have to admit... this week was a tough one for me.  I found myself with a "Creative Block".  So you will see that my "Kiss" is at the bottom left, next to the rose.  I used the larger stamp with the writing and inked it with grey flannel, then inked the rose stamp with tulip in on a separate block.  Then I pressed the two inked stamps together (like a kiss) and then inked the paper!
Now take a moment to take a look at the project the rest of the Heart 2 Heart Team designed for this week's challenge:
This week the Fabulous Aaron B. from Booth #32 is joining Heart 2 Heart as our Guest DT.  Now head on over to Heart 2 Heart Challenges Blog, there you will find that Mary has posted a link to a instructional video on the "Kissing" technique.  If you are familiar with "kissing" GREAT! if you want to learn about it some more click on the view link.  Then start creating some "kissing" cards and join in the fun and upload your picture at Heart 2 Heart Challenges Blog!
